PLÅTPRISET 2017 – The Metal Prize

I created the 2017 PLÅTPRIS, the Metal Prize, which was awarded to architect Björn Förstberg at Förstberg Ling at the PLÅT conference in Stockholm on March 16. Björn Förstberg received the prize for his design of  “House for Mother” in Linköping, an aluminum clad villa. You can see photos of the villa and read more about the project here (in English) and here (in Swedish). My warmest congratulations to the winner! This prize was created using etched and patinated copper, brass, bronze, aluminum, zink and steel, and it was mounted on a base of black, waxed mdf. One of the copper pieces is 110 years old and used to be part of a prominent copper tower in Malmö.If you’d like to read more about the Metal Prize itself, there is an interview here (in Swedish) about my work with the Metal Prize in 2013.

The PLÅT seminar is a major annual event devoted to metal sheeting and architecture. The purpose of the seminar is to highlight sheet metal facades and metal’s architectural potential, showcasing unconventional ways of utilizing it. Every year some 300 architects, contractors and consultants attend the seminar. It is produced by Far From Standard.
